Lenten Small Groups

SIGN-UP HERE

It’s time to sign up for a Lenten Group. These groups give you the opportunity to get to know some new people in a short time-frame similar to the Growing Together program in 2012. This time, we have six Small Group options for you to choose from. They are:

On the Death and Resurrection of Jesus

This Ray VanderLaan series is an in-depth video curriculum exploring Jesus’ path through the later part of his ministry through his death and resurrection.  The DVDs were filmed in Israel, giving powerful visuals to help understand the Biblical Narrative. Groups meet on Mondays at 7:00 p.m., led by Pat Marusarz and on Wednesdays at 6:45 p.m., led by David Carlton.

 The Case for Christ

How do we know Jesus was who he said he was? What proof do we have that he was crucified or rose again? Join journalist Lee Strobel on a six-series DVD journey through the evidence of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection. This is a great series for those who have friends and loved ones who are skeptical of Jesus’ claims. Group will meet on Thursdays at 7:00 p.m., at the home of Jerry & Abbie Niewiadomski.

3:16, The Numbers of Hope

Everyone knows John 3:16, but join Max Lucado as he breaks down the most well known verse in the Bible phrase by phrase to understand the power of the Gospel through such familiar words. Max gives us a rich unpacking of the verse word by word, step by step in a way that is easy to understand and relevant to the trials and joys of our everyday life. Group will meet on Fridays at 1:00 p.m., led by Maggie Downs.

No Wonder They Crucified Him

Join Dan Meyer as he explores the radical identify of the Son of God who challenged the Pharisees, Sadducees and Public Officials of his day with words that made everyone sit up and take notice. Explore Jesus’ teachings that led him to the cross and see how this son of a carpenter can fashion you into a disciple of the living God! Groups will meet on Sundays at 6:00 p.m., led by Amy Murray and Joy Bocanegra and on Wednesdays at 6:45 p.m., led by Pastor Tony.

King's
Cross (Starts Mon, Feb 11th)

King's Cross by Timothy Keller.  In this book Keller shows how the story of Jesus is at once cosmic, historical, and personal, calling each of us to look anew at our relationship with God. Like Keller's other books it has tremendous crossover appeal, but it is also ideal for the faithful, those who are looking for a closer connection to Jesus and Christianity.  Group will be Mondays at 9am., led by Bob Van Baren with the first one at PPPCC and then meeting off site (TBD).

Lenten Prayer Group

Are you longing to simply come into the presence of God and just pray?  This is a group  strives to experience God in His love and power through the practice of prayer.  They will read particularly Lenten prayers together, sing hymns and pray over the Wednesday prayer page.  This group will be on Wednesdays at 6:45 p.m., led by Paul and Rosemary Harris.
