Winter 2013 Sunday Mornings (9:45-10:45 a.m.) Sunday Mornings What the Bible is All About It’s about the birth of the church and its formatives years. It’s about the Book of Acts for this period and the spread of the light that started with Christ at Christmas. Everyone can pick this class up now at this new place. This class meets in Fellowship Hall. Our Presbyterian Roots: Heroes of Our Tradition The thought and legacy of four giants who shaped the church’s thinking about God and our relationship to Him will be explored. The life, times and writings of Augustine, Martin Luther, John Calvin and John Knox will be highlighted. The core teachings of “Reformed” tradition, TULIP, will be shared and discussed. The relevance of this history and thinking to our Christian walk today will be a focus of this class.
John’s Gospel on the Last Week of Jesus’ Lilfe Thisis a read and review of the plot line and the background that make reading John’s Gospel available to everyone’s understanding. It will be especially helpful to parents of Second Year Confirmation students who are also reading this section of John’s Gospel. But as we approach Lent, this class is beneficial to all. |
