Music Ministries

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!” (Psalm 150:6)

The Lord has called us to Himself – and one way He created us to respond to Him is through music.  Music is an integral part of the Christian lifestyle; and a core element of our worship services as a family of faith.

There are many opportunities throughout the year for people of all ages, experience, and skill level to join in the Music Ministries at PPPCC.  In our Music Ministries, we are strengthened by the fellowship and prayer support we receive from each other as part of the Body of Christ.  We appreciate the opportunity to use our God-given gifts in service to our congregation – and in the process, we find joy and fulfillment in musical art which adds a creative balance to our busy lives.

Prayerfully consider participation in one of our ensembles – all are welcome!

If you are interested in participating in any of Music Ministry programs, please contact the Director of Music and Worship, Megan Marshall by email (megan@pppcc.org) or phone (708-448-5220, x16)

CHANCEL CHOIR

The Chancel Choir is a non-auditioned choir open to HIGH SCHOOL AGE and ADULTS.

The choir welcomes all who love to sing!  Several choir members have prior experience in a school or community chorus, but it is NOT required.  Inexperienced singers can be paired up with an experienced singer in rehearsal to help guide him/her as needed.  Rehearsals are held at 6:30pm in the Sanctuary every Wednesday night.

 HANDBELL CHOIR

The Handbell Choir is a non-auditioned ensemble open to HIGH SCHOOL AGE and ADULTS that rehearse on Sundays from Noon-1:00pm (immediately after the second worship service ends).

New ringers are welcome to participate – prior communication to the director is preferred so an experienced ringer can be assigned to you as a “mentor” to help you learn bell notation symbols and techniques as they occur in the music.  After enough practice -- when you are comfortable -- you can ring with the ensemble at worship services, generally once every 4-6 weeks.

PRAISE BAND

Our Praise Band is comprised of various singers and instrumentalists in the congregation that serve at our monthly Praise & Worship Sunday (held at 10:30am on the third Sunday of every month).  Assigned monthly, the team is usually comprised of  2-5 singers, 1-3 guitarists, a pianist and/or keyboard player, and 1-2 percussionists.  Additional instrumentation is also desired.  Rehearsals are on Thursdays at 6:30pm in the Sanctuary.

Each Praise Band member is expected to attend at least one weekly rehearsal, to have basic music reading skills, to be able to follow a chord chart, (vocals) to be able to sing a melody line solo and/or be able to sing a harmony part by ear and/or sight, and prioritize participation in “special seasonal music ministry” events & services.  Excellence in musicianship and performance skills are high priorities, but a heart for worship is the most important characteristic of a leader in the Praise Band, as it is in all of the music ensembles at PPPCC.

 MEDIA TECHNICIANS

Our media technicians work behind the scenes, but are an essential component of our worship ministries.  Sound engineers for Praise Band take all the “raw material” that the singers and instrumentalists give them and craft it into a balanced sound on Sunday morning, while the projection team integrates videos and visuals into our worship services.   We are in need of new members of this important team – training is provided!!
